A safe home, school, clinic and trade-training campus — Benin City, Nigeria
Concept stage. SAAK intends to acquire land and build a secure, solar-powered campus that cares for, educates and equips orphaned and underprivileged children under one roof.
The vision
On a single walled, gated site in Benin City, Edo State, the SAAK Children’s Campus will bring together:
- A children’s home for up to ~96 children, with live-in house-parents.
- A primary school — classrooms, library and ICT.
- A health clinic — a primary-care post for the children and the community.
- A vocational workshop — carpentry, welding, mechanics, plumbing and tailoring for older youth.
- A dining & assembly hall serving meals for up to ~200.
- 100% solar power, a borehole for water, and a kitchen garden — so the campus can run independently of unreliable mains services.
Built in phases
The campus is designed to open and begin changing lives before it is fully complete:
- Phase 1 — Enable & house: land, perimeter wall, water, solar, the first residential block and kitchen — opening a home for around 48 children.
- Phase 2 — Educate & train: the school and the vocational workshop.
- Phase 3 — Heal & grow: the second residential block, clinic, courtyard and kitchen garden — reaching full ~96-bed capacity.
Why it matters
For over a decade SAAK has delivered food, clothing, medical supplies and educational materials to orphaned and underprivileged children in Nigeria through local partners. The campus is the next step: a permanent place of safety, learning and opportunity that SAAK owns and runs.
